The victory of Republican JD Vance in the election for the US Senate has generated interest in his wife Usha Chilukuri.
The Ohio Senate seat became unfilled when Republican Rob Portman announced his retirement, and the best-selling author and politician defeated Tim Ryan on Tuesday night to take it.
Following the publication of his work Hillbilly Elegy in 2016, Vance saw a rise in popularity. The same year, he garnered media attention during the US presidential race.

WHO IS USHA CHILUKURI? JD VANCE’S WIFE
Usha, the wife of Vance, is an attorney who works as an associate at the Munger, Tolles & Olson law firm in California.
She is involved with “complex civil litigation and appeals in a wide variety of areas, including higher education, municipal government, entertainment, and technology,” according to her bio on the business’ website.
According to her biography, she also works as a litigator for the law firm’s San Francisco and Washington, DC, offices and holds legal credentials from Ohio, California, and the District of Columbia.
She studied history at Yale University and obtained a master’s degree in early modern history from the University of Cambridge, according to her LinkedIn profile.
In 2014 and 2015, she worked as a law clerk at the US Court of Appeals for the District of Columbia, and in 2017 and 2018, she worked at the US Supreme Court.
Usha and Vance became friends while they were Yale Law School classmates.
Vance obtained his Juris Doctor from the law school after earning his BA from Ohio State University.
Usha mentioned Vance’s “wonderful attitude” throughout their time at school and mentioned that he “felt quite different” from other students in an interview with Megyn Kelly for NBC News in 2017.
Usha served as executive development editor of the Yale Law Journal and managing editor of the Yale Journal of Law & Technology while she was a law student.
