According to military sources, Major General Ahmed Sharif has been named the new Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Director General, taking the place of Lieutenant General Babar Iftikhar, who has been assigned as Corps Commander V Corps (Sindh).
Prior to this, Maj Gen Sharif held the position of Director-General of the Defence Science and Technology Organization (DESTO), a covert organisation that conducts scientific and technical research and develops weapons systems in the fields of avionics, propulsion, and aerodynamics.
The Joint Services Headquarters, however, is in charge of it as an inter-services organisation, and the Strategic Plans Division is intimately associated with it (SPD).
Maj Gen Ahmed Sharif is a member of the Electrical and Mechanical Engineering (EME) corps and has reportedly held positions in both Military Intelligence and Military Operations.
After being appointed V Corps commander, Lt Gen Iftikhar will now move to Karachi to take over for Lt Gen Mohammad Saeed.
According to reliable sources, Lt Gen Shahid Imtiaz will likely be appointed commander of the X Corps and Lt Gen Mohammad Saeed will likely take over as chief of general staff (CGS).
It is anticipated that Lt Gen Muhammad Ali will serve as the Quartermaster General (QMG) and Lt Gen Nauman Zakaria will serve as the Chief Logistic School Both Lt. Gen. Saqib Mahmood and Lt. Gen. Shahbaz Khan are likely to be posted as commanders of the 31st Corps.
