Over the past couple of months, there have been numerous leaks regarding Vivo’s upcoming foldable. The more recent leaks revealed some key specifications followed by images of the actual products, whereas earlier ones only showed simple schematics. In one case, an unboxing video for Vivo’s X Fold 2 was also included. The Vivo X Flip, the company’s first clamshell foldable, was released and never officially confirmed until now. The upcoming foldable devices from Vivo now have a launch date, and a number of new images and hardware specifications, including those for the less well-known Vivo Pad 2 tablet, have also unofficially leaked out.
Beginning with the announcement, Vivo has made it official that the upcoming Vivo X Fold 2 and the Vivo X Flip will be announced on April 20, 2023, at 7:00 PM in China. Vivo made this announcement via its official Weibo account. The announcement was made public by means of a picture that displayed enormous models of both devices in a prominent place. The business also disclosed that the Vivo Pad 2 will be unveiled at the occasion.
Vivo X Fold 2 and X Flip product images were also leaked by Tipster Digital Chat Station. The images give us a detailed look at the two foldable and a rough idea of their sizes. The Vivo X Fold 2 has a faux-leather rear panel, whereas the Vivo X Flip has a slightly different texture and an embossed pattern that resembles an argyle.
Additionally, the same source reaffirms a few of the previously leaked specifications. The tipster claims that the Vivo X Fold 2 will have a Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC and a 2K AMOLED E6 inner foldable display. The device reportedly has an ultrasonic fingerprint reader, 120W wired charging, and 50W wireless charging capabilities.
Instead of the Gen 2 Qualcomm Snapdragon 8+ SoC, the Vivo X Flip is anticipated to have the Gen 1. It might have two rear cameras, the primary of which would have a 50-megapixel Sony IMX866 sensor.
The tipper also revealed some information about the Vivo Pad 2, which is rumored to have a MediaTek Dimensity 9000 SoC as its processor. The tablet is anticipated to have a metal body and a WQXGA LCD panel with a 144Hz refresh rate, suggesting that it could be a premium tablet from Vivo.
The prices of each of these products and whether Vivo intends to release either or both of these foldable globally are still up in the air at launch. The Vivo X Fold and Vivo X Fold+ are currently China-only models.
