The Galaxy S23 series of smartphones, arguably the most anticipated Android flagships, are now available. Samsung introduced the three-piece Galaxy S23, S23+, and S23 Ultra during its first live smartphone announcement since February 2020. The Ultra variant, which comes with a high-resolution 200MP main camera and Qualcomm’s most cutting-edge Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 CPU, is the star of the show and the topic of this essay. The new Galaxy S23 Ultra’s pricing, features, and specifications are detailed in the following paragraphs.
Design
You would be let down if you were hoping for significant design modifications. Most people won’t be able to distinguish between the Galaxy S23 Ultra and the S22 Ultra because of how identical they both look. The phone has sharp corners, almost the same dimensions as its predecessor, and a S pen on the top. The camera island, where the majority of aesthetic alterations typically take place, is also unchanged. Three camera rings are arranged separately. The device’s flatter sides, which are simpler to handle, are one obvious change.
Specifications
The Galaxy S23 Ultra, Samsung’s most expensive smartphone, features cutting-edge tech. It has the quickest chip, best camera, and finest display of the brand. To put it another way, there is a tall 6.8-inch AMOLED display with a QHD+ (3,088 x 1,440) resolution and a dynamic refresh rate that, with the aid of LTPO technology, can range from a high of 120Hz to a low of 1Hz.
The smartphone’s display is capable of reaching a maximum brightness of 2,000 nits. This is a lot brighter than the 1,750nits of the Galaxy S22 Ultra. Corning’s Gorilla Glass Victus 2 protection is installed on the panel.
Qualcomm’s most recent Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC, along with 8GB or 12GB of RAM and 256GB, 512GB, or 1TB of internal storage, powers the smartphone. In contrast to last year, Samsung didn’t introduce the device with the Exynos chipset. A 5,000mAh battery powers the S23 Ultra, and it supports 45W wired and 10W wireless charging. Additionally, reverse charging is supported. The smartphone also comes pre-installed with One UI 5, which is based on Android 13.
Cameras
The S23 Ultra is Samsung’s top camera phone when it debuts. The smartphone sports a quad-camera configuration, with the big 200MP ISOCELL HP2 sensor taking centre stage. This sensor can record at up to 8K HD at 30 frames per second. Additionally, the main sensor supports optical image stabilisation (OIS).
A 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens with an f/1.4 aperture and a 120-degree field of view, as well as a 10MP telephoto lens with a 3x optical zoom, an f/2.4 aperture, and OIS capability, are included with the primary sensor. A 10MP periscope telephoto camera with an f/4.9 aperture and a 10x optical zoom is also available. The smartphone has a 12MP front-facing camera for taking selfies.
Price and Availability
Phantom Black, Cream, Green, and Lavender are the four hues that the Galaxy S23 Ultra will be available in. Starting on February 17, it will be offered for purchase through a variety of channels. The smartphone’s entry-level 8/256GB model costs $1,200 in the US and 115,000 in India.
