This year’s Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5 is anticipated to debut in August. Although Samsung hasn’t yet formally confirmed the launch date, rumors about the clamshell foldable smartphone have already begun to circulate. This year, the Galaxy Z Flip 5 might see some design upgrades. One such rumor is that Samsung will give it a larger outer display and a recent leak by DSCC analyst Ross Young seems to give that rumor more support. He claims that the cover display on the Galaxy Z Flip 5 will be 3.8 inches. According to reports, Samsung will begin shipping Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 panels in May.
According to a tweet from Ross Young on Monday (via SlashLeaks), the Galaxy Z Flip 5 may have a 3.8-inch cover display. This would be bigger than the 1.9-inch outer display of the Galaxy Z Flip 4’s predecessor. Oppo’s most recent clamshell-style foldable phone, the Find N2 Flip, has a 3.26-inch AMOLED cover screen as a point of comparison. The latest leak is consistent with earlier reports. A concept image of the Galaxy Z Flip 5 recently appeared online, showing a sizable external display that spans a sizable surface area. Users might be able to take selfies on the large external display and see notifications for the time, battery life, and other information.
Additionally, the analyst claims that while the production of the smartphones will start in June, panel shipments for the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5 will begin in May.
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 SoC may be present in the Galaxy Z Flip 5 and Galaxy Z Fold 5, according to a recent Geekbench listing. The Galaxy Z Fold 5 is shown to have 12GB of RAM, whereas the former is listed as having 8GB.
Previous rumors claimed that the Galaxy Z Flip 5 would be available in beige, grey, light green, and light pink hues, while the Galaxy Z Fold 5 would reportedly be available in beige, black, and light blue tones.
