Mushtaq Ahmed, a former cricketer, thinks Babar Azam has to improve his strategy while facing spinners.
The former spinner claimed that the Pakistani skipper has potential for growth in his batting in an exclusive chat with Cricket Pakistan.
Although Babar Azam is now the best batsman in the world, Mushtaq stated that there is always potential for development.
“People claim that Babar is susceptible to spin. Prior to then, Graeme Swann frequently dismissed Virat Kohli. The leg-spinner bowled Babar three or four times as well. Like Virat, he needs to better himself in order to deal with leg spin and googly. He must decide whether to play from the back foot or the front,” the speaker said.
Shadab Khan, a Pakistani all-rounder, has improved his game despite having fitness concerns, Mushtaq said.
“His leg spin and line and length have improved. I have spoken to Shadab and he has learned a lot of tricks recently. He has fitness problem sometimes maybe because he is three-in-one player like Shahid Afridi i.e. he performs in batting, bowling and fielding,” he added.
“Shadab wins matches. Playing red-ball cricket would be better for his entire game,” the man said.
Mushtaq, the Multan Sultans’ assistant coach, also praised Mohammad Rizwan, the franchise captain, for his unselfish demeanor.
“Rizwan urged that Sarfaraz Ahmed be included in the Test team, and the coach and captain agreed. His ability to speak the truth with an open heart is his finest trait,” the man claimed.
“People said that he didn’t deserve a spot in the team and wasn’t capable of playing T20s when he wasn’t given the opportunity to play. He disproved their claims, nevertheless. A huge man has a big heart, and Rizwan exhibits this quality,” he continued.
