The CPEC project is actively underway, and local women are contributing. As part of its initiative to empower women in underdeveloped areas, the project trained and hired local women to work on the project.
For the purpose of cleaning solar panels, twenty-one women from the nearby communities of Mithi and Islamkot have been hired. With the exception of three younger women, all of the women range in age from 18 to 45 and are married mothers. “This job is like a life-changing opportunity for all of us,” said Komal Kumari, a resident of Mithi who lives with her parents. She oversees the project team responsible for cleaning the solar panels.
The lives of all the women under Komal’s supervision have significantly improved during the past four months of her work with the Thar Block-1 Integrated Coal Mine Power Project.
“Females have at last left their houses. It’s a significant step toward the empowerment of women. These women lack formal education. Before they began working, they were terrified and helpless. The world is evolving. People who once complained about my work are now calling me to help them find jobs for their wives or daughters. Women today are so aware of the issue,” she said.
