At least five people were killed on Wednesday night at the Cook’s Corner Bar in Trabuco Canyon, Orange County, including the shooter. According to The Orange County Register, the shooting suspect is a former law enforcement official from outside the region. 11 people were shot after the shooting incident sparked a domestic dispute between the suspect and his wife, according to CBS News.
What is currently known about the shooting is:
Deputies from Orange County arrived at Cook’s Corner in the 19000 block of Santiago Canyon Road on Wednesday night in response to numerous reports of shootings. It was spaghetti night at Cook’s Corner, a well-known hangout for bikers.
According to early reports, at least 11 people may have been shot. There were five fatalities, including the shooter. Six more people were taken urgently to a nearby hospital for treatment. Their health status was unknown.
In a statement, the office of California Governor Gavin Newsom said that he was keeping an eye on the shooting “and coordinating with local officials as more information becomes available.”
Pictures from the scene that were posted on social media revealed a significant amount of blood on the bar’s floor. At least three bodies were visible in images lying on the ground under sheets.
“Heartbroken to hear of another senseless mass shooting, this time in our own backyard,” said supervisor Katrina Foley in a statement. “The DA and Sheriff’s Department have provided updates to my office, and I am continuing to closely monitor this.”
