During a 46-minute interview with former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, former president Trump didn’t hold back. The interview was held as a counterprogram to the first GOP presidential debate that he, as the party’s front-runner for 2024, chose to forego.
In the interview, Trump fired shots at a number of his usual targets. He criticized rival candidate Chris Christie and his former attorney general Bill Barr, as well as the network that was in charge of airing the debate, Fox News. In Bedminster, New Jersey, on Trump’s property, the interview was pre-recorded.

Slams Fox News:
The former president was extremely critical of Fox News during the interview, criticizing its choice to yank Tucker Carlson off the air in April. He emphasized that Carlson was the top-rated host at the time and thought the network made a mistake by making this decision.
“I think it was a terrible move getting rid of you,” Trump told the former host in an interview. “You’re No. 1 on television and suddenly we’re doing this interview, but we’ll get better ratings doing this crazy forum that you’re using than probably the debate,” the host said.
Criticizes Chris Christie:
Additionally, he made claims that Chris Christie was the main target of his campaign and was openly criticized. The former president stated, “He runs solely on the ‘Let’s get Trump’ platform.” He reminds me of a vicious manic. He seems to be insane. And he only discusses that. His polling results are incredibly poor.
Remarks regarding political violence on January 6″
Tucker Carlson questioned Trump during the interview about how he felt the nation was heading toward a potential “civil war.” The former president responded by bringing up the events of January 6, a day when rioters stormed the Capitol in an effort to scuttle the certification of the results of the 2020 election.
There is “tremendous passion and tremendous love,” according to Trump. “Because of how they report it, January 6 was a very interesting day. The audience there was, I think, the biggest one I’ve ever addressed.”
