The spouse of murdered Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif, Javeria Siddique, begged Twitter on Monday to take down his “final photos.”
She also warned against having journalists and politicians come to their house with cameras, claiming they were not welcome. Please delete the final images of my late husband @arsched from your social media platform, Twitter. Politicians and the media are not welcome inside our home with cameras, she wrote in a tweet.
Sharif’s passing on Monday had already been announced by Javeria in a different tweet. In the previous tweet, she had emphasised the need to safeguard the family’s privacy. “I lost my best buddy, my beloved journalist @arsched today. According to the police, he was shot in Kenya. Please respect our privacy and refrain from sharing any of our family’s photos, personal information, or his final hospital photographs in the name of breaking news. Keep us in your prayers,” she had said.
Pls @Twitter remove last picture's of my late husband @arsched from ur social media site. Politicians and media are not welcomed with cameras inside our house.
