Learn how to use Second Screen on Samsung Galaxy phones and tablets if you frequently work mobile using a PC and Samsung Galaxy device. No matter what kind of PC you’re using, it’s a remarkable feature that is exclusive to Galaxy devices that enables you to instantly expand your screen space without cables.

You could use this with a desktop computer if you wanted, but working on a laptop away from your desk is when it is most useful. Every time, some setup is necessary, but it’s not too difficult. Additionally, everything is wireless for added convenience.

The following how-to is divided into three sections. The first one explains how to configure a Samsung Galaxy phone for use as a Second Screen, the second one describes how to configure a Galaxy Tab, and the third one describes what to do on your computer once your phone or tablet is ready. So let’s get started.

On Samsung Galaxy Phones and Tablets, how to use the Second Screen:

For Samsung Galaxy phones

  1. Tap Smart View in the Quick Settings menu
  2. Open the About Smart View page
  3. Tap the Smart View logo 10 times

  5. Input a password if needed to unlock developer options
  6. Toggle the Start SecondScreen switch

For Samsung Galaxy Tab tablets

In Second Screen mode on your device:

  1. Open the casting menu on your PC and choose your Galaxy device.

  3. Choose your projection mode, then turn on and off any device inputs.
  4. In Windows’ display settings, you can change the relative positioning of the displays on your Galaxy device and computer, change the display scaling, and more.

For Samsung Galaxy Phones

1. Tap Smart View in the Quick Settings menu:

Swipe down from the top of the screen to reveal the notification shade, then do it again to reveal the full Quick Settings on your Galaxy.

If you don’t immediately see Smart View, swipe left to find it. It’s by default located on the second page of the settings.

2. Open the About Smart View Page:

We’re going to the Smart View developer menu to enable Second Screen because it isn’t actually a stable feature on Galaxy phones yet. Start by tapping the three-dot menu in the Smart View menu, then tap Settings, and finally scroll down and tap the option labeled “About Smart View” at the bottom of this particular menu.

3. Tap the Smart View logo 10 times:

Yes, it is a strange directive, but you must follow it! There is no set period of time; simply tap the app’s name ten times in the center of the screen.

4. Input a password if Needed to Unlock Developer Options:

You might be presented with a password screen after your ten taps. If so, you must enter one of the following three codes:

#00rtsp00 (the one that was successful for us)

#00sv00

5. Toggle the Start SecondScreen Switch:

You ought to now be in the developer menu! Toggle the Start SecondScreen option to the position from here to make it active. You should then see the screen below as a result.

Do not exit this screen until you are connected to your PC, warns the text displayed on the screen. Don’t worry, you’ll be able to navigate away later.

You can now connect your phone and computer. The unfortunate news is that you will need to go through the entire procedure again each time you want to enable Second Screen on a Galaxy phone. Crossing our fingers that Samsung will soon release this feature from testing!

For Galaxy Tab Tablets

1. Tap Second Screen in the Quick Settings Menu:

Models of the Galaxy Tab S7 and later have a Second Screen enabled by default. Swipe down twice from the top of your screen to open the Quick Settings menu, then tap the Second Screen button. This makes setting one up much easier than it would be on a Galaxy phone. If you can’t see it right away, swipe left because it might be on the second page of the options.

Stay on the next screen once it appears and don’t leave. It’s time to connect your Galaxy Tab and PC.

When your Galaxy device is in Second Screen mode

1. Open the casting menu and select your Galaxy device:

If your Galaxy is currently selected in the Second Screen menu, you can locate it in the Windows casting menu by pressing the Windows key and K. Click on a device to choose it from here. Unfortunately, you cannot use a Galaxy phone and Galaxy Tab at the same time for this.

For reference, I carried out these actions on a computer running Windows 11, but they ought to be nearly identical if you’re still using Windows 10.

It shouldn’t take long for the connection to establish, and then your phone or tablet will begin showing what is on your laptop’s screen.

2. Choose your projection mode and turn on and off inputs from your device:

On your phone, your computer display is automatically replicated. If you’d rather extend your desktop, show your display only on a phone or tablet, or disconnect when you’re done, click on Change projection mode.

You can check or uncheck a box in the cast menu to indicate whether you want inputs made on a phone or tablet to be registered.

3. Modify the display scaling, relative positioning, and more of your computer and Galaxy device displays:

To fine-tune your configuration, open the Windows Settings menu and select the top Display option. Depending on how you intend to use your phone or tablet in this arrangement, you might want to adjust the display’s resolution, orientation, or scale. Try different things and see what suits you the best.

The ability to move your displays is one option that is especially useful. It is advantageous to have it placed so that it accurately reflects how the two devices are placed in real life because it alters where you need to move your mouse in order to switch windows between your two screens.

Depending on the navigation method your device is set to, you can now exit Second Screen mode and continue using your tablet or phone normally by swiping up or pressing the home button.

If you haven’t disconnected yet and want to go back to Second Screen mode, you can tap a blue bubble icon that by default will show up in the upper right corner of your device.
